The Story Behind Solder
Solder The Seal of Approval™ was created with a vision bigger than simply giving Thumbs Up Plumbing a mascot. We wanted to create a memorable character that Rhode Islanders could recognize, connect with, and eventually know beyond plumbing.
Being proudly rooted in Rhode Island, inspiration naturally came from the Ocean State itself. With Rhode Island’s deep connection to the water and seals being part of our coastal environment, a seal felt like the perfect character to represent a homegrown Rhode Island brand.
But every great character needs a name.
For a plumbing company, Solder was the perfect fit, a playful connection to one of the most recognizable skills of the plumbing trade. From there, the idea came together: Solder The Seal of Approval™.
The “Seal of Approval” became more than a play on words. It represents the standard behind Thumbs Up Plumbing: professional workmanship, honest recommendations, dependable service, and an experience we are proud to put our name behind.
